Primary

So I have a question. Today we had primary and we give them a treat if they did their reading assignment. Today we had five kids and all but one come back with their reading done. I felt so bad that I couldn't give one to all of them but if I did then that would set the precedent that it was OK for them not to and still get the reward. What should I do?

We had a discussion about them taking responsibility for themselves they are eight and everything they do they now deal with the consequences. This came up because the kid that didn't read told me that it wasn't his fault his mom didn't remind him. I told him off to the side that its his responsibility and if he looses the list on scriptures than he should call any of his classmates or me.

He is the only kid in the class that has a problem listing to instructions. I need to try to come up with more fun ways to teach them I was thinking about maybe in a few weeks having them play pictionary with the lesson. Don't know yet.

  1. I think that you did the right thing. If you promised treats to only those who read, then that's what the deal is. BUT, I have to give him some major props for being honest. Seriously. He totally could have lied.

As far as ideas go, look around the Internet. There are SO many groups, websites, and discussion boards with ideas for making lessons more fun. I really like SugarDoodle:
