Doran

Doran and his two younger brothers went mountain biking of Friday. He got in an accident and the photos are of the injuries. first is his stomach where he hit the handlebars. the second is his knee were he fell straight down.

Almost a week later and he is feeling better. He is still all banged up but functioning. Once they all get their bikes back together they will be out at it again. Boys.

Ethan

Yesterday I was working on numbers, letters, and colors with Ethan.

Up to this point all numbers have been "two". I understand that some children will get stuck and say only one number or letter, but yesterday we had a break through. He can now say "Two", "Five", and "Six". and if you ask him to piont to any number lower than six he knows which one is what.
Colors he has learned "Yellow" and "Blue" in the past two weeks and we are now working on red. He will get there. He has this special desk that his aunts boyfriend made him. We sit there and do edgucational stuff.

His alphabit is coming along great. He can say all his letters other than "v" and "w" in order with a little guidance. His dad asked me if that was good or average. I dont know but I thought it was pritty good for a kid thats not even two yet.
He learns more and more every day. His favorite phrase is "Oh Boy" he says it every time we go outside. Anytime you ask him if hes hungry his responce is "Noooope" He is a joy to be around and when hes in a good mood (which is offten) I love my job and never want him to grow up. He is so adorable.

A Tribute to Megan

Tomorrow
By Megan Hawkins
A mother once said "Tomorrow is another day
and we will spend time together then."
The child went to bed with a frown on his face
and tears in his eyes.
In the middle of the night an angel
came to the boy in a dream.
The angel whispered "tomorrow will never come for you.
For you have learned all you need to."
The boy grasped the hand of the angel with sorrow and mouthed
"will tomorrow be a day of sadness for my mother?"
The angel sat on the edge of the bed and looked at the little boy
and uttered "Tomorrow will be one of sadness and growth.
Sadness for the death of her eldest son and
growth for the knowledge that
today is the only thing you can count on."
.
.
I found this as I was cleaning the house. I was mad at Doran for never picking up after himself and that on my day off I had to do it all. I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. I love Doran so much but the mess is driving me nuts. I clean all the time but it never stays clean. I found this poem that my sister wrote when we were both in seminary. It made me realize that it doesn't matter what the house looks like as long as he knows I love him for who he is.

A Blessing For Us

So we were sitting in our Prymary during closing exersices and the class we had last year was talking and bouncing off the walls. It made me happy and feel blessed that we have a calm class this year. We have a chart that if the fill 90% in the next six months they can come over for a pool party (With a parent).
I got a text message from the parent of one of the kids that I use to teach when I was 17 or 18 and told me that he use to love having me as a teacher. It made me hope that I will have the same influence on the kids that we teach this year.

We also got to be there today when Nathan was ordained a Priest. That was very nice. Hope that this next week goes as well.

Primary

So I have a question. Today we had primary and we give them a treat if they did their reading assignment. Today we had five kids and all but one come back with their reading done. I felt so bad that I couldn't give one to all of them but if I did then that would set the precedent that it was OK for them not to and still get the reward. What should I do?

We had a discussion about them taking responsibility for themselves they are eight and everything they do they now deal with the consequences. This came up because the kid that didn't read told me that it wasn't his fault his mom didn't remind him. I told him off to the side that its his responsibility and if he looses the list on scriptures than he should call any of his classmates or me.

He is the only kid in the class that has a problem listing to instructions. I need to try to come up with more fun ways to teach them I was thinking about maybe in a few weeks having them play pictionary with the lesson. Don't know yet.

Attitude

So Ethan has been a true pill this whole week (Know I have kept in mind that he is teething) Yesterday he didn't want to do anything so I asked him if he wanted to go on a walk outside to this he responded "oh boy oh boy oh boy" it was so funny because he has never said this before. So we are out side and everything is going good and then daddy gets home and comes up and gives Ethan a hug Ethan in turn looks at his dad and says "whatever" and walks away. How rude. His dad relay looked sad. I felt so bad for the guy.

A Christmas Present

So in Doran's stocking mom and dad gave him a seasoning packet for honey sesame Chicken. I made it for dinner tonight and served it over rice. Now I am not one that likes rice but I think it tastes good and Doran loved it so it was an over all success. Easy to make and easy to clean up (that might have been because I cleaned the kitchen this morning and then cleaned as I went with dinner.) Thank you mom and dad Rice for the great dinner and it was relatively cheap too. I give it 5 Stars.
