Vinegar

Vinegar who would have thunk it. I was sitting there thinking about how if vinegar softens the water in the wash why would it not work in the dishwasher. I turned to the kitchen section and there it was. All you do is add Distilled White Vinegar to the rinse plate or the spot that you normally put your jet dry. White Vinegar is $2 a gallon Jet dry $3 for a small bottle.

When It Worked. I now have spot free dishes. They are crystal clear. Jet Dry did not work this well. I highly recommenced this. And its not a chemical.

TSH

So as some of you know we have been in an on going battle to get my thyroid levels at a normal or regular level. Well today I went to the doctors and he gave us the news that all looked good and the numbers were starting to stay level. So my next appointment is 9-11-2010
Sweet I know.

Once a week we dig out the finger paints and I let the boys paint. They both love it. Ethan asks everyday to paint and Holland loves to splash. They are so cute and it keeps them occupied for thirty minuets to an hour.

Eco

So I know that this is weird but I picked up a book that has recipes for home made, all natural cleaners. I want to give it a try. I think that I will start with something simple like laundry soap or fabric softener. Hear is the recipe. This one includes both the soap and softener.

Hard Water Formula
1 Cup Soap Flakes
1 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
2 Cups Vinegar
10 drops essential Oil of Choice

Combine the soap, washing soda, and borax in a heavy plastic container. Blend Vinegar and Oil in a separate container, preferably one with a pour spout. Use 1/2 cup of the soap mixture for washing; add 1/2 cup Vinegar mixture during the rinse cycle.

Know me not having ever done this is there somewhere around here that I can buy Soap flakes/pure bar soap, washing soda, and Borax?

When I try this I will let you all know how it works out.

Puzzled

Last week Ethan wanted to work on his puzzles and did not want any help. The above is what he ended up with. Now keep in mind he did not force any into place and he used all of the pieces. He was so cute. He stood up and yelled "I did it" So sweet. If we all could be a little more like him. I also included what the puzzle was suppose to look like.

3 Years

Today I am very Happy to announce that my sweet husband and I have made it to the three year mark. Yeah we did it. In the past three years we have gone through a lot. Money struggles, a life changing move, fights, vacations, the birth and death of a child... The list goes on and on but we have survived and become better people for it. Maybe in the year to come we will have a few of these things happen. Buy a house (we need to set up an appointment with a mortgage concealer), Go to the temple, Get a dog (Doran really wants one but the pre-rec is a house), Camping with family.

I would like to take a few minuets to tell everyone how much I love my husband I don't think I could have asked for a better one.

Three Reasons I Love My Marriage
1 I have a great husband who loves me
2 I know that I can get through anything with Doran by my side
3 I love my sweet Doran with all my heart.

Vacation

So we got back from Oregon OK. We have pictures and I will post those latter. We had a good time but I hope that next time we have the money to fly up. We left here at five pm on Wednesday, picked up Anthony in Provo and four am, got to Aunt Melanie's at ten am. We sat outside and visited. At five we got back in the car and headed to Grandma Hawkins for a visit. Grandpa and Doran had a good visit, Doran said they talked about hunting and fishing. Anthony worked on the computer that is in Chinese and Grandma and I played card games.

On Friday we drove the two hour trip to Oregon for the family reunion.

Will have to post more latter. Work awaits. See you latter.

The Boys and My Toys

Last week Doran and his brothers got into a creative mode.

Well I better start at the beginning. A few years ago Doran bought me a Cricut for Christmas and I love having it. I use it for many different things.

On Friday the boys (Doran, Morgan, and Nathan) went up to Prescott to do some mountain biking. When they got back Doran called to see if I was OK with them coming over to play wii. This was fine they are pretty clean so its not a strain on me.

When they got here the wii stood forgotten as the circled around my Cricut and started to play. A few minuets later Morgan proclaimed that he wanted to buy himself one.

Now I ask myself if these macho men knew that they were playing with a scrapbook and craft Machine and if that would have made it any less tempting to play with.

Monthly Goals

So I have been thinking about this for a while. I hat "New Year Resolutions" because a few months down the line you start to peater off. I want to work on one goal a month. I think if I get really good at it by the end of the month then it wont seem like such a big thing. So here it goes.

Spiritual - Read my Scriptures every day (I do read them but its more like once a week. I know I can do better)

Physical - Sit up strait ( I have been reading about the core mussels and thought to my self that there would be no point in strengthening them if I don't do it right the first time.)

I know that the month has already started but I will try my best to do it. Will report Back at the end of the month.

Time Out

Yesterday afternoon Ethan Wanted to play with a toy that Holland had so he took it. When I made him give it back he started to throw a fit. I told him that we don't throw fits and asked him if he wanted to sit on time out. He of course said no. I told him that if he did it again (Taking the toy and throwing a fit when he had to give it back) he would sit on time out. He acknowledged that and I turned around to pick up some toys.

When I turned back Ethan had decided to take the toy again. I told him to give it back and he started to throw a fit. He looked at me and ran back to his room. I follow him back there and he is sitting on the rocking chair with his arms folded.

This is our conversation:
ME: Ethan what are you doing?
ETHAN: Indie sit time out.
ME: OK

I walk to get the door because McKenzie is there and Ethan starts howling at the thought that the toy is leaving. I decide to let him off so he can say goodbye to Holland.

ME: Ethan are you ready to get up?
Ethan: Yes Dano.
ME: OK come here.
ETHAN: OK Dano. I sorry Dano.
ME: Are you going to be a good boy for me?
ETHAN: Indie be good boy

He walks out to the front room and gives Holland a hug and says hes sorry to him too. I love the fact that he is so willing to learn to say sorry. He is such a sweet little boy.

And It is Up The Nose

So Ethan was in a fowl mood yesterday morning. Now this was not a surprise he is usually cranker on Mondays. I put him in his high chair for breakfast and he decided to throw his Cheerios on the floor. I told him not to and that he needed to eat.
He said "No Danyel"
Well to this I said "Yes Ethan"
I got down to pick up the Cheerios off the floor and when I finished Ethan was sitting there rubbing his nose. I asked him what was wrong with his nose.
He said "Ouch Danyel"
I looked up his nose to see what was wrong and I found that he had decided to shove a cheerio up his nose. I tried having him blow his nose and using q-tips nothing worked...until he started to sneeze. It came out and the rest of Breakfast was fine. Hopefully he has learned not to stick things up his nose.

On a Monday Morning

OK first I have not written in a while because of the lack of Internet. We use someone elses and in the Arizona heat we only get it after nine or before six and sometimes in between.

We got back from our camping trip yesterday afternoon. We had a lot of fun. We went on a grew hikes, walked around town, and went to antique stores. It was wonderful until Doran started to worry about money. He does this all the time and I told him if he is so worried about money than maybe he needs to stop spending money on food at work. I don't spend money out of the account unless it is bills, food, or gas.

I think that he is worried about next month when I don't watch Ethan for two weeks. I told him that everything will be fine. Have to go get ready for work. I will upload pictures latter. I might have to take them over to mom and dads to do so.
Talk later.

Friend Making Monday: 10 things I like about summer

1. Eating watermelon on a hot day. There is nothing better than the slight sugar rush you get as you bite into a firm, juicy piece of watermelon.
2. Flip Flops. I wear them year round but it is nice not to get strange looks like I do in the winter.
3. Camping. I love camping and we went a lot when I was a kid. I'm so happy that I married a man that loves it as much as I do.
4. Watching Ethan play in the sprinklers. It brings back memories of being a kid and sneaking the sprinkler under the trampoline even though our parents and grandma said not to. It was worth the spanking.
5. Easier Meals. Doran doesn't care what dinner is when hes hot so I can get by with a few easy meals like Tomato soup and Grilled cheese or even plain tuna sandwiches.
6. Jam. I have not had or been able to make it is some time put I use to love canning jam. It was always so much yummier than the stuff you buy at the store.
7. Canning. I know I'm strange but I can remember canning with my mom and always loved how saticfing it was to see and taste the effort I put in. The most important thing I ever learned from my mom came from when we were canning. She told me "What you put in is what comes out." This I have taken on to the rest of my life.
8. Swimming. Last year I didn't really get to go because I have relay dry hair and swimming makes it worse but Doran bought me some special conditioner for after we swim.
9. Heat. Now those of you that live here might laugh but it gives me an excuse not to go out and exercise.
10. Evening walks. Doran and I take walks sometimes in the evenings during the summer. I love this time because there are no distractions.

Kids

OK so I know that i am more than a little behind. Here are some things that took place last week at work.

Tuesday: Setting - It is around 3:45 Ethan is playing with the magnets on the fridge and Holland is wiggling over by the fireplace.

The front door opens. Ethan turns and runs to Holland, lays on top of him, and says "No ... nu uh."

Ethan knew that it was McKenzie there to pick up Holland. So funny because Ethan wants Holland to be there but doesn't want to play with him. He has learned that at 5 months Holland doesn't play much.

********

Wednesday: Setting - 12:30 Ethan is eating his lunch. Doran stops buy to look at a catalog for golf shirts. Ethan loves to see Doran. He talked to Doran about the truck and the wind. Doran made the wind sound and Ethan crackers up.

Ethan got peaches for lunch and ate the whole can. He looks up at me a says holding his tummy "Ouchie Danyel" Poor kid.

At 12:50 I take him into his room, lay him down, and say goodnight. He looks up at me and says "night night Doran." He says this three times as I turn on his music and close the blinds.

At 3:00 I get him up and this is our conversation

Him: "Doran?"
Me: "Doran went bye bye."
Him"Were Doran?" With his sad face.
Me: "He went to the fish store."
Him: "Indi go fish." His eyes light up with Joy.

(He calls himself Indi and we don't know why.)

Public Enemy Number 1

The smooth creamy texture. The ease to get to. This is one of the worst things in the world. I cant help myself. If I am tired, sad, cleaning it is there for me. You might ask yourself what is this that could be so seductive. Well it use to just come in a tub but a few months ago they bottled it up into an even easier to access compressed can. This diabolical product is non-other than Cool Whip. My weakness and yes it is great on cheesecake.

Pasta with Creamy Pesto Sause

Last Monday I made this recipe. It turned out OK. I think I cooked the white sauce to long because it was a little thick. Doran loved it. It is really simple to make. Don't think I will try this one again.

Dinners

So I have been thinking about how hard it is to eat the same thing week after week. We have been on a food budget of $40 a week. This has been hard and we have pretty much the same meals every week. This summer I want to try a new recipe every week. We do our grocery shopping on Monday because there are just way to many people at Walmart on Saturday. I have scrounged around for some recipes to get me started. This week I wanted to use some of our fresh basil. So I am going to try to make and if I fail and it tastes horrible we will have romen. Will post the recipes and how we liked it as we go along.

Blocks

Holland just loves Ethan's blocks. So cute.
